MAY
usually produces the fastest fishing of the year.
Good Coho Salmon and Steelhead fishing, with occasional
Chinook (King) Salmon and Brown
Trout are frequently
the catch of the day. The warm water of this season
concentrates fish close to shore. Many limit catches
are to be expected during this period.
JUNE
is one of the best months for great catches of large
Coho Salmon and Steelhead. Look for more Chinook
Salmon and Brown Trout to show up, with the occasional
Lake Trout.
JULY
is a great time for a good mixed bag and very consistent
action. Some of the best Chinook Salmon fishing
on Lake Michigan occurs in Milwaukee during July.
This is also the ideal time to fish the Mid-Lake
Reef Complex off Milwaukee for Trophy Steelhead,
with the extended 7-hour
extended offshore steelhead trip.
Early
AUGUST
is still a great time for Trophy Steelhead off-shore
and a variety of catches. Mid-August and late August
is the best time for a trophy Chinook Salmon, which
will range up to 35 lbs! Many charters in late August
are limit catches, filling 2 large coolers.
SEPTEMBER
is a month similar to late August – the time when
the Chinook Salmon move in and around the harbor gaps
in the shallow water to spawn. We will usually be fishing
around the gaps in the early morning and continue to fish
off shore later in the day for 3-year-old Chinook
Salmon and Steelhead.
If
you are looking for very quick Brown Trout action, OCTOBER
is the perfect month for you! There are also 3-year-old
Chinook mixed in which will range up to 20 lbs.
